Wouldn’t it be cool if there was a place down there where you could live (and do it without breaking the budget), share historically renovated office space with other amazing non-profits, small business, and pollinators in the arts, environment and technology fields, AND eat a great dinner on a permeable patio, take in some theatre and perhaps a class about green building?

Let us introduce (the new neighbor in RAD): Glen Rock Depot. Glen Rock Depot

The Glen Rock Depot is a collaborative residential and business hub between the River Arts District, the Livingston and South French Broad neighborhoods, and Mission Hospital and AB-Tech.  A development of Mountain Housing Opportunities, it is a three-building community development that includes affordable residential, commercial, retail and office and business spaces. It is where the arts meet the environment and technology.

New Multi-use LEED Certified Building

The project combines solar thermal components, New Markets Tax Credits, affordable housing, and a new mixed-use building that will be LEED certified. The intention of the Glen Rock Depot is to bring vitality to a neglected area on the Depot Street curve, including environmental revitalization of two historic River Arts District buildings: The Corner Market and The Glen Rock Hotel, as well as adding a new multi-use building.

Mountain Housing Opportunties, with the support of Pollinate Consulting, is in conversations with the WNC Green Building Council and Asheville GO! to build environmental partnerships around the building process.  There will be a Call to Artists in the late summer, early fall to include hand-made features in both buildings.
