Awesome Sustainability Workshops Offered August-November
In August, I’m taking a 2-day Wild Food and Fermentation course through Ashevillage Institute and I can not wait! I am grateful that its founder, Janell Kapoor, has chosen Asheville as home. She is invited all over the world leading community-based permaculture projects. One time, with mine own eyes, I saw Janell harvest stinging nettle…gloveless without being stung. True story.
Ashevillage Institute (AVI) is non-profit eco-educational organization and collective of permaculture experts and students developing a demonstration living laboratory of sustainable living in downtown Asheville. They are holding a series of 2 to 5-day hands-on workshops now through December, open to community participants.
Permaculture is a practical ecological design system for creating regenerative human habitat. It’s a worldwide movement that offers tools, skills, knowledge and inspiration that empowers us to provide for our own basic needs as we create a sustainable future.
And, for those of us who are a bit more budget minded: early bird, group discounts and payment plans available. Some barter options are available as well.
Nationally-known instructors are coming here to share their knowledge and enthusiasm around permaculture with our community from now through December. In fact, some of these experts have chosen our mountains as their home and are working year-round to offer sustainable solutions in our community.
Participants of all backgrounds and skill levels are welcome. Kids included. Kids under a certain age are free. Call for details.
