Integrative Family Medicine of Asheville is presenting a free public event on Sunday, September 30 which is designed to educate the public about the healthcare system and how grassroots efforts will be needed for any sustainable change. Our goal is to offer clear non-partisan information that empowers citizens to care for themselves and their community.
The event is co-sponsored by Jubilee Community Church and Integrative Family Medicine of Asheville. There are numerous sustainability movements here in Asheville, and this will present the ‘nuts and bolts’ of the healthcare component. We believe that with the right information and coordinated efforts, Asheville will be a model community.
What: Free community presentation to explain the healthcare system and what can be done
locally to create sustainable, affordable healthcare
Why: most people feel overwhelmed, confused, and dis-empowered by the dysfunction of the
healthcare system and their lack of affordable access to good care.
Intention: By explaining simple principles of our current system and how it developed, we will
demonstrate how sustainable healthcare can begin at home in Asheville. We will illustrate how
we have much more influence than we may have realized. We will provide information free of
partisan politics and will show how the big picture fits together. We are inviting representatives
from the numerous local sustainability projects in hopes of catalyzing a well-informed,
coordinated effort for a healthy, local economy and population.
When: September 30th from 7-9pm
Where: Jubilee Community Church at 46 Wall Street Asheville, NC 28801 (828) 252-5335
Who: Integrative Family Medicine of Asheville and The Wellness Team at Jubilee Community
